The Varanus Class was a Gorn technical powerhouse that was on par with the Federation, Klingon & Romulan heavy cruisers. Despite being more science & engineering based with less weapon power, the Varanus could outlast the barrage from multiple heavy cruisers & yet manage to subdue them with it's superior durability & tactically based science facilities that could project things like gravity wells, tachyon beams, advanced computer system viruses, Tyken's Rifts & other hazardous anomalies a weaponized deflector array can create. You've done a wonderful job capturing one of the most memorably Gorn ship classes. <3
