Vector class starship

Whilst having a conversation with a friend about all the current MSD’s I had been doing, we got talking about a new version of the Centaur as we play star trek online, the general idea was to have a ship a little bit bigger, with some more fire power but keeping the general look and shape of the centaur, with a few added features I wanted to add. Here is the MSD so you can get an idea and I am currently working on the outside views now.

Made up back story:

After the dominion war, Starfleet decided it need a new workhorse of the fleet that would replace the ageing designs of the Miranda, Centaur and Streamrunner class ships, but would feature the newest technology Starfleet had available. The design called for a small but strong ship at around the same size as the centaur but with more features for longer period missions. This quickly became complicated as everything that needed to be featured would not fit into the space frame, so compromises where made and the frame was enlarged by 40% to meet the requirements, in addition to the added weapon pod, docking clamps where added to the underside of the hull, which means additional equipment in the form of a detachable pod could be added and removed at will, either increasing the vectors military of scientific potential at will.

The centaurs combat ability is nothing to be dismissed, aimed with phasers, cannons and torpedo launchers and fitted with high capacity shield generators she can give even larger ships a run for their money, in addition she is fast and agile with two sets of impulse engines, she can keep up with ships half her size.

Due to the added size of the ship, the crew assigned are normally very happy with the conditions on the ship with a holodeck and mess halls to relax and socialise adding to moral which was lacking on the older design of ships. Today the vector is taking more of a front roll seat around the federation from scientific to petrol missions as the older ships are phased out, Starfleet are that impressed by the design, production has been increased to eighteen a year across the federation.
